Stochastic Analysis of Non-Adaptive Decision Feedback Equalizers*
نویسنده
چکیده
The performance of decision feedback equalizers (DFEs) working on a communication channel with correct taps is studied. In the case of noiseless channels we show that the space of channel parameters can accordingly be partitioned into a finite number of sets. The error recovery performance of a DFE is the same for all DFEs within one such set, and is determinable. We also discuss some tight bounds far recovery time, which are particularly important when the number of equalizer taps is not small. We argue that near minimum phase character for the channel does not necessarily guarantee short recovery time. For noisy channels we indicate that certain error probability upper bounds derived in the literature are tight.

On the Practical Aspects of Joint Passive Phase Conjugation and Equalization Underwater Communication Systems
Underwater acoustic communication systems suffer from the channel impairments which results in time spreading of the transmitted signal. In underwater environment, multiple replicas of the transmitted signal are received at the receiver through different paths, which causes significant Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI). Decision Feedback Equalizers (DFE) was utilized to overcome this type of inte...
متن کاملBlind Adaptation of Decision Feedback Equalizers: Gross Convergence Properties*
An analysis of the stochastic dynamics of the blind adaptation of decision feedback equalizers is presented. The analysis accounts for the presence of decision errors which, under feedback, are propagated. A number of blind algorithms are presented and a theory is developed to explain gross convergence properties observed through simulations. The possibility of and mechanism behind undesirable ...
متن کاملEqualization of Non Linear Optical Channels
This paper presents a comparative analysis of various linear and nonlinear equalizers for a high density optical channel. Since the read-out process is nonlinear, a suitable model basedon the Volterra series has been adopted. In this work, we compare the performance and complexity of equalizers designed for linear and nonlinear channels. Specifically, Adaptive Minimum Mean Square Error (MSE), A...
متن کاملFractionally Spaced Adaptive Equalizer: A Review
Due to non-linear channel behaviour, the bit error rate at the receiver side increases and receiver is not able to recognize the signal levels. Equalizer play an important role is such situations and is designed to have an impulse response which is reciprocal to the response of the channel, hence resulting in an overall linear response. As channel response is not static in nature, so equalizer ...
متن کاملAdaptive IIR Phase Equalizers Based on Stochastic Search Algorithms
Two well known optimization algorithms, the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and the Simulated Annealing Algorithm (SAA), are investigated for IIR adaptive phase equalizers. For non-convex error surfaces, gradient-based algorithms often fail to find the global optimum. This work compares the ability of the GA and the SAA to achieve the global minimum solution for multi-order all-pass adaptive filters to ...
